Functional Dentistry

The aim is to address the foundational pillars of health across the lifespan, through a combination of motivational interviewing and targeted interventions utilizing precision (personalised) medicine. Treatment approaches consider the key role of epigenetics whilst addressing any aesthetic and/or functional goals from a holistic viewpoint.

Myofunctional Orthodontics

Proper oral function is necessary to support nutrition, facilitates communication and provides confidence and overall wellness.

Neuromuscular re-education and training of the orofacial muscles that display dysfunctional behaviour as it relates to breathing, chewing, swallowing, speech, and posture. Such therapy optimises function to facilitate good craniofacial development during growth .

A complete myofunctional evaluation is required to determine the degree of dysfunction of the orofacial musculature.

The discipline concerned with the study of the oral and maxillofacial causes and consequences of sleep-related problems. Encompasses sleep-related breathing disorders (obstructive sleep apnoea), orofacial pain (including temporomandibular disorders and headache), gastro-oesphageal reflux disease and sleep bruxism and the interaction between these entities.

A diagnostic sleep study along with a full medical evaluation is appropriate to assess the nature of a sleep-related breathing disorder so tailored strategies can be implemented.
